You may also contact Vicki Knutsen, Northwest District Information Systems Administrator for information on how to begin developing your web site.

BUILDING A WEB SITE:  The LCMS offers a nice piece on how to begin building your web site and you can find free web hosting information at the following link:  http://www.lcms.org/pages/internal.asp?NavID=484

DO YOU HAVE A DOMAIN NAME FOR A WEB SITEwww.dotster.com  offers domain names (for a small annual fee), and web hosting plans beginning at $13.95 per month.

FREE INTERNET TRAININGhttp://www.ericelder.com/training offers free Internet training.  They offer the following three courses. They claim that each course takes about 45-60 minutes if you do all the exercises, but you can skim through the highlights in 5-10 minutes.

"Doing Research on the Internet": Learn how to find information online to prepare Bible Studies, Sunday School lessons, sermons and just about anything. You'll also learn how to get better results from the major Internet "search engines."

"Your Church on the Internet": This interactive technology demonstration will spark your thinking about how you might use audio, video, e-mail, chat rooms and more to enhance and expand your current ministry.

"Using the Internet Safely": Learn some of the dangers of using the Internet and how to protect yourself and your family while using it. This session will discuss filters, "cookies," history files and more. The site is not Lutheran, but you can get a good idea of tools and tips churches can use to share their message on the web. It is also a good overview of various Internet resources.

INTERNET IMPACT - Have you ever wondered what impact the Internet has on society? The Pew Internet & American Life Project is a non-profit initiative fully funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts. The project creates original research that explores the impact of the Internet on children, families, communities, health care, schools, the work place, and civic/political life. The Pew Internet & American Life Project aims to be an authoritative source for timely information on the Internet's growth and societal impact, through research that is scrupulously impartial.
