A STORY:
Have you ever met a person who has made a huge difference in someone’s life
because they learned to turn simple tasks or relationships into exciting
opportunities to bring God’s love and presence into another person’s life? I
heard a story this week about a man named Victor. Some would call him a bus
driver. The kids call him their best friend. They consider their bus rides the
highlight of their day. Victor takes time to get the whole bus involved in
playing games - like who can spot the most dogs or squirrels or cats during the
next ten minutes. He makes sure that on a child’s birthday they get to sit in
the “Seat of Honor” behind the driver and hear how God thinks they are the most
special person in the world! He remembers each child by name when he prays at
night. As the kids grow into adults and return for school reunions, Victor’s
name frequently comes up as being one of the more influential people in their
growing-up years! Several will share how they met Jesus through Victor’s love!
If the Apostle Peter were here today he would say, “That’s what I was talking
about when I said you are a chosen people, priests of the king, a holy nation, a
people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you
out of darkness into his wonderful light!” (1 Peter 2: 10)
OUR LONGING:
Why are you here? What is your unique niche in God’s plan? How is God calling
you to make a difference in this world? How are you bringing God’s presence and
love to people - especially outside the church? God gives each of us gifts and
calls us to a state of being that is meant to impact others. When we dedicate
and connect our living to what God has created us to do and be, that is when we
become God’s instruments; and there becomes a connection of purpose and harmony
with Life.
OUR CALLING:
Like Moses at the burning bush, you and I are being called into new forms of
ministry to serve The Great I AM in all facets of our life! Martin Luther
teaches that this service takes place in four specific arenas: the home (or
family); the neighborhood (or community); the place of Work; the local
congregation. God calls us to be His priestly presence in each of these fields;
but it is up to us to act!
LIFE
Journey exists to help you hear, respond, and be equipped to answer
God’s call to serve The Great I AM wherever He places you!
