We had a great mission trip!  All totaled we had 20 kids join in for the adventure.  One kid whose parents had been unchurched for 9 years, hopped in the truck after the first day and said, "OK, Dad, tell me about the Holy Spirit!"  Most of the kids were unchurched and heard the Gospel for the first time. Opening a Bible was  also a first time experience for the majority of the kids. We kept the main message simple by focusing on “Jesus loves us and forgives us”!

Part of the experience was our team living in community for a week.  We made the parsonage our home for the week.  The IAM youth (16-18 years old) planned a menu, bought the groceries, and prepared all the meals for the week.  We all learned to appreciate each other's music and tastes. We held each other up in prayer and support as we met each night to share our high's and low's for the day and to plan the next day.  The totality of the experience was significant in the spiritual formation of all of us!

Perhaps the most significant part of the mission trip was to experience the love, care and concern for the children in the Newport community by All Nations Lutheran Church.  They truly have a heart for the surrounding community to share God's love in whatever way they can.  They are a beacon of light to this coastal community!

As the team leader, it was my privilege to be in ministry with the IAM youth!  They are committed, growing, enthusiastic disciples of Jesus!!
